The ECDC Memmingen is all set to begin their season in the top tier of German ice hockey, as they face the newly promoted Erding Gladiators in their first Oberliga away game on September 18, 2025.

The Erding team, who will be playing as guests in Memmingen, have strengthened their squad with several experienced players, including Markus Eberhardt, Marco Pfleger, Louis Trattner, and Marc Schmidpeter. This new addition of talent is expected to make the Gladiators a formidable opponent.

Meanwhile, the ECDC Memmingen has also been making waves, having been awarded the opening game by the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB), allowing them to start a day earlier than their competitors. The team has been in good form, having had a successful warm-up weekend with three wins under their belt.

However, the participation of ECDC Memmingen's captain, Tyler Spurgeon, is uncertain due to the pending granting of German citizenship. The team will also be welcoming back some recently injured players, the decision on whom will be made at short notice.

In the goal for the Erding team, Leon Meder and David Zabolotny will share duties. Meder, a familiar face from Memmingen, will be a player to watch.

The Indians, opponents of the ECDC Memmingen, have also shown promising form, with their Canadian-influenced forward line being particularly impressive. The team is confident, with new additions settling in well.

The game against the Rebels will not be streamed by SpradeTV until 45 minutes before the game, unlike the opening game against Erding. Tickets for the game are available in advance and at the box office.

For those who wish to attend the game in Stuttgart following the Sunday game, a fan bus is available with departure from BBZ Memmingen at 2 PM. Reservations can be made by calling 0160/7856269.

The Stuttgart team, previously the league's bottom team, aims to establish themselves in the Oberliga this season. Their preparation games suggest they have taken another step forward, but the impact of their new players is still difficult to assess due to a lack of Oberliga experience.

The game against the Rebels starts at 5:30 PM on Sunday. With both teams eager to make a strong start to the season, this promises to be an exciting match.
