Antalya World Championship - Krasnodar Clinch Top Spot, Securing Gold

In Antalya, Turkey, the World Muay Thai Championships for adults drew to a close with the Russian team claiming the top spot in the team standings. One of the tournament's standout performances came from Aminat Bekmetova, who clinched the gold medal in the 57kg weight category.

Hailing from Krasnodar and trained by coach Ilya Kushnir, Bekmetova displayed exceptional technical skill and tactical acumen, outmaneuvering her Turkish opponent in the final. This triumph marks a significant milestone in her career, building upon her previous victories at Russian, junior world, and European championships.

A total of 635 athletes from 104 countries participated in the tournament. The Russian team, comprising 44 fighters from 15 different regions, amassed 36 medals, including 17 gold, securing their position atop the overall rankings.

Prior reports had also highlighted the success of Krasnodar gymnasts in international competitions. The city’s boxing and rugby teams have also made a name for themselves on the sporting stage.

Bekmetova's career in Muay Thai has continued to soar, following her impressive gold medal win at the World Championships in Antalya. Her hometown, Krasnodar, is known for nurturing exceptional athletes, with Bekmetova joining the ranks of successful boxers and rugby players from the city in the realm of sports.
