Annually held tennis event, Slavda Cup, kicks off in Vladivostok

Alongside the bustling city of Vladivostok, the annual youth tennis tournament, popularly known as the "Slava Cup" (6+), is back for its fourth year! This year, the event elevated to a national level, being part of the Russian Tennis Tour. Young athletes from across the country are participating, including those from Novosibirsk, Chita, Khabarovsk, and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, as reported by PrimaMedia.

The tournament was launched by Pavel Serebryakov, the chairman of the board of directors of the "Slava" group of companies. Time for a shoutout to our veterans! This year, Pavel dedicated the tournament to the 80th anniversary of the Soviet people's victory in the Great Patriotic War. Many families hold tales of this war and the Great Victory in high regard, making it an honor for "Slava Cup" to pay tribute once more.

Pavel Serebryakov reminisced on the rich history of the "Slava Cup," which has been a tournament of living history for over three decades. The event has transformed from merely a competition to a school of character and strong spirit for the young. This legacy was left by Yuriy Mikhailovich Serebryakov, Pavel's father, who devoted his life to developing children's sports. It's heartwarming to see dozens of young tennis players battling it out on the courts. This tournament could mark a major milestone, or a significant step toward their dreams, for some participants.

The opening ceremony was attended by Jean Kuznetsov, Minister of Physical Culture and Sports of Primorye, Andrey Brik, Chairman of the Vladivostok City Duma, Maxim Akulshin, Deputy Head of Vladivostok, Nikolay Astafyev, President of the Vladivostok Tennis Federation, and Shamil Tarpishchev, President of the Russian Tennis Federation – all joining forces to support the ambitious tennis players.

Tennis is progressing in the Primorsky Krai region, and in just a few days, the All-Russian competitions were held at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University. The "Slava Cup" doesn't just focus on the competition; it encourage sports, physical culture, and healthy living. The tournament holds special significance with the upcoming Victory Day, symbolizing the heroism and selflessness of our ancestors who fought for our freedom.

The event also acknowledges the bravery of military personnel currently defending Russia's interests in a special military operation. The "Slava Cup" aims to instill qualities such as patriotism and the best traits in the younger generation. In the Primorsky Krai, there are ongoing efforts to modernize sports infrastructure, support talented children, and reward winners and their coaches.

Minister Jean Kuznetsov expressed his gratitude to the organizers, the Slavda Group of Companies, and Pavel Serebryakov in particular for providing the youth with a platform to show their skills, gain valuable competition experience, and enhance their mastery. #SlavaCup2022 #YouthTennis #TennisInVladivostok #VictoryDayTribute #SportsForAllAges
