Annual Tournament Hosted by Local Politicians - Karl Mooser Bagged the Commemorative Trophy
The communal politician tennis tournament, a unique event that transcends party boundaries, celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. Originating from the minds of Mayor Scholz and Mr. Kreisrat Bauer, the chairman of the Bavarian Municipal Association, the first tournament was held in 1984, initiated by Rupert Schmid and Harald Bauer.
This year's tournament, held at the SSV Kofering tennis courts, saw Karl Mooser from Wenzenbach emerge victorious, with Anton Blabl from Schierling and Robert Goetzfried from Hagelstadt following closely behind. State Councilor Tanja Schweiger, who has previously thanked the tournament's founders for their dedication, expressed her gratitude once more during the awards ceremony.
Schweiger emphasized the importance of the tournament for fostering camaraderie and community within the organisation. She highlighted the value of personal encounters and friendly exchange, stating that they are crucial for a vibrant community. The tournament, she noted, is not just a sporting event, but also a living tradition and a valuable part of the organisation's history.
Former district councilor Harald Bauer, the main organizer of the tournament for the past 39 years, reminisced about the tournament's beginnings and his role in its creation. He emphasized that the tournament fosters unity, mutual respect, and joy in sports.
State Councilor Tanja Schweiger also thanked all the volunteer helpers for their contribution to the perfect organisation and smooth running of the event. She reiterated that the tournament is a testament to the dedication and commitment of individuals like Harald Bauer, Rupert Schmid, Wenzel Neumann, Gerald Maerkel, and Alexander Wulf.
Despite the search results not providing information about who initially had the idea to organise a tennis tournament for active and former local politicians in Regensburg, one thing is clear: the communal politician tennis tournament has become an essential part of the community, fostering camaraderie, community, and tradition.
