Annual event in Sibiu showcasing Grammy award-winning musicians and elite orchestras, known as Enescu Festival.

The George Enescu International Festival is set to return to Sibiu, Romania, from September 2 to 21, 2023. This year's edition promises an exciting lineup of performances, paying tribute to the 70th anniversary of George Enescu's death and milestones in musical modernism.

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra will be among the performing groups, taking centre stage on September 21 to close the festival. Violinist Augustin Hadelich will join the ensemble, with percussionist Colin Currie appearing as a guest soloist.

In the opening concert on September 2, Marta Gardolińska will conduct Sinfonia Varsovia, with pianist Rafał Blechacz performing. Violinist Daniel Lozakovich and pianist David Fray will collaborate on September 19.

Sinfonia Varsovia and Sinfonietta Cracovia are also featured in this year's edition, with their performances promising a symphony of classical and contemporary music.

A highlight of the festival is Alexandra Silocea's multisensory recital, "Klimt Meets Bösendorfer - Ver Sacrum," on September 14. This unique performance, inspired by spring symbolism and Klimt's visual world, will feature a rare gold-decorated Bösendorfer piano.

Violinist Augustin Hadelich will perform on September 17, and tickets and festival passes are available now online at special presale prices until July 27.
