Announcing hoax: Rottenburg bishop's fraudulent account spreads false demise report

In recent times, there has been some confusion surrounding the presence of certain clergy members on the digital platform known as "X", formerly Twitter. Here's a breakdown of the facts to help clear up any misunderstandings.

Firstly, it's important to note that Cardinal Kasper, the 92-year-old Cardinal of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, is very much alive and in good health. No new information about his health or status has been provided recently.

Cardinal Kasper served as the Bishop of Rottenburg from 1989 to 1999, and Bishop Krämer, who was his episcopal secretary from 1994 to 1997, has distanced himself from a fake post that circulated on platform "X" claiming Cardinal Kasper's death. Bishop Krämer clarified that the account @BischofKraemer on platform X does not belong to him, the Bishop of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart.

Bishop Krämer had a conversation with Cardinal Kasper in Rome a few months ago, during which Cardinal Kasper was in good health and spirits. Contrary to some reports, Bishop Krämer is not present on the X platform with any account.

Before its renaming to "X" in 2022, when Elon Musk took over the internet portal, Bishop Fürst, the predecessor of Bishop Dr. Krämer, regularly commented on current topics through his account on the platform "Twitter". However, Bishop Fürst's account was deactivated and deleted, and the diocesan leadership decided not to communicate on the platform "X" after the takeover and renaming.

It's also worth mentioning that the user operating under the name @BischofKraemer on platform X is not actually Dr. Klaus Krämer, the Bishop of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart; the diocese has clarified that this account is a blatant forgery and that the bishop has nothing to do with it.

Lastly, it's important to note that Bishop Dr. Krämer has not created any accounts on the platform "X". He was not present on the predecessor network of "X", Twitter, either. This article aims to provide clarity on the matter and dispel any misinformation that may have been circulating.
