Harry Potter Reboot: Major Cast Updates Announced
'Harry Potter' Series Update: Fresh Actors to Join the Magical World - "Announcement of fresh performers for the 'Harry Potter' literary saga"
Get ready, Potterheads! The iconic world of Harry Potter is expanding and we've got the latest on the new and oh-so-talented cast members joining the HBO reboot.
Folks, buckle up! The devilishly charming Lucius Malfoy, an ardent supporter of Lord Voldemort, will be played by none other than Johnny Flynn (42), renowned for his roles in Netflix's "Ripley" and, more recently, the Hulu series "The White Lotus." For anyone wondering, the evil Lucius was previously brought to life by Jason Isaacs (62) in the original films.
Prepare to meet the new Draco Malfoy, Lucius' pesky offspring. Stepping into Tom Felton’s (37) legendary shoes (who still captivates audiences as the older Draco in "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" on Broadway) is Lox Pratt, a relatively unknown actor, who has only graced our screens in the series "Lord of the Flies" hitherto.
Joining the fray are the new additions to the Dursley family. Petunia Dursley, who raises Harry before he discovers his magical abilities, will be portrayed by Bel Powley (33), while Vernon Dursley will be charmingly played by Daniel Rigby (42).
Though known primarily for her role in the UK sitcom "The IT Crowd," accomplished actress Katherine Parkinson (47) will bring life to Molly Weasley, the loving mother of Harry's best friend, Ron. Bertie Carvel (47) will tackle the role of Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, making quite the leap from his Tony Blair depiction in "The Crown."
HBO has also announced a new crop of young actors to round out the supporting roles. Keep an eye out for Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, and Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown.
Some of the previously confirmed actors joining the reboot include John Lithgow (79) as headmaster Dumbledore, Janet McTeer (63) as Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost (53) as gamekeeper Hagrid. As for the young leads, Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will bring Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley to life, respectively.
Let's not forget the excitement that erupted on Instagram, where HBO officially unveiled some of these incredible casting choices! So, gather your wands, Potterheads—it's going to be a magical ride!
