Leaders Gather in Washington DC to Discuss Support for Ukraine

President Trump, President Zelenskyy, and the Prime Minister will meet in Washington DC tomorrow, marking a significant moment in the ongoing diplomatic efforts to support Ukraine. The leaders are expected to discuss the next steps in peace negotiations and the role of the Coalition of the Willing in providing security guarantees.

The Coalition, an international group of 31 countries, has been a central diplomatic and military support for Ukraine. Its purpose includes advocating for Ukraine’s sovereignty, supporting peace negotiations, and preparing security guarantees to protect Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

The leaders are prepared to help regenerate Ukraine's armed forces and secure its skies and seas. The Coalition has reaffirmed its readiness to deploy a reassurance force once hostilities have ceased, which would help stabilize Ukraine and assist in rebuilding its armed forces.

President Zelenskyy is praised for his desire for a just and lasting peace, and the leaders have commended President Trump's commitment to providing security guarantees to Ukraine. The meeting in Washington DC will follow President Trump's meeting with President Putin in Alaska.

The Coalition firmly states that peace negotiations must include Ukraine directly and can only succeed after a ceasefire or significant cessation of hostilities. Without Russia agreeing to ceasefires, the Coalition advocates for strengthened sanctions and economic pressure on Russia. It also rejects any forced changes to international borders and insists Ukraine must have credible security guarantees to defend itself effectively. Russia cannot veto Ukraine’s path toward European Union and NATO membership.

The leaders' meeting is part of the Coalition’s ongoing efforts to coordinate with important leaders, including President Zelenskyy and former US President Trump, who are engaged in diplomatic efforts to stop the war and seek peace through talks with Russia. The leaders' meeting is a testament to the Coalition’s commitment to supporting Ukraine and working towards a just and lasting peace amid the ongoing conflict with Russia.
