Anime series, One Piece, has been extended for a third season.

In an exciting development for fans of the popular anime adaptation, Netflix's live-action One Piece series has been confirmed for a third season. Production is set to begin at the end of 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa, with a projected release around mid-to-late 2027, possibly in July or August.

Unlike the previous seasons, the third instalment is expected to be more focused, with a likely emphasis on the Alabasta arc. This substantial story arc in the manga is set to receive a more streamlined production, with fewer sets.

Ian Stokes and Joe Tracz have been announced as showrunners for the third season. The second season, set to release in early 2026, will adapt the Alabasta saga, with the third season potentially continuing from there, focusing still on Alabasta or the next arcs in the Grand Line journey.

The streamlined production is expected to result in a shorter filming and post-production period. The third season will follow Luffy and the Straw Hat crew's continued adventures in the Grand Line, encountering new islands and enemies.

The focus on the Alabasta arc suggests key events like the confrontation with Crocodile and the Desert Kingdom storyline will take centre stage. Fans can expect the live-action series to delve deeper into the East Blue and early Grand Line arcs, including major characters and conflicts from Alabasta, rather than spreading across many arcs as in the earlier seasons.

The adaptation is aiming for a refined, faithful retelling of these storylines. No official plot details beyond the Alabasta coverage and showrunner change are currently available.

The series premiered on Netflix in 2023 and quickly became a global sensation, holding the top spot in over 75 countries. Eiichiro Oda, the creator of the One Piece manga series, has been involved in the adaptation process.

In the second season, the Straw Hat Pirates continue their search for the One Piece. A new character, Tony Tony Chopper, a reindeer from the North Blue, will join the Straw Hat Pirates. In Loguetown, the Straw Hat Pirates will encounter the dangerous Marine officer Smoker.

The hit series has been renewed for a third season, with production scheduled to begin in Cape Town, South Africa, in late 2025. Luffy, the captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, has the ability to stretch his body like rubber. His dream is to find the legendary pirate treasure, the One Piece.

Stay tuned for more updates on the third season of Netflix's live-action One Piece, as we continue to follow Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates on their grand adventure.

The upcoming third season of the Netflix live-action One Piece series, planned for a 2027 release, will shift its focus towards the Alabasta arc, promising a more streamlined and potentially shorter production process. Fans can expect this season to reveal key events such as the confrontation with Crocodile and the Desert Kingdom storyline, delving deeper into the early Grand Line arcs and major characters.

For entertainment enthusiasts eagerly awaiting the series, there's exciting news - 'movies-and-tv' coverage will consistently update on the third season of Netflix's live-action One Piece, documenting Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates' continued adventures as they journey through the Grand Line, encountering new islands and enemies.
