Angels under the gusts of wind

Despite the wind, Sven Gerling, head of the Düsseldorf Carnival Committee (CC), remains undeterred and optimistic: "We won't let it drive us insane. We're eagerly awaiting a spectacular Rose Monday."

Get ready for an unforgettable carnival experience in Düsseldorf this year! Here's a sneak peek at what you can expect from the 2020 festivities.

The main event, the Zoch, will kick off at 11:33 A.M. on Rose Monday, departing from Hennekamp. For the first time, the parade will be longer than the actual route, stretching nearly five kilometers. All participants in the Zoch will possess the German Riding Pass, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

If you're a music lover, you're in luck! Arne Klüh from Antenne Düsseldorf will be providing live music, accepting music requests, and offering greetings during the Sunday Street Carnival on Königsallee.

For the younger crowd, the Children and Youth Parade is not to be missed. The parade will depart from the schoolyard of the Görres-Gymnasium on Königsallee at 2 PM. The best costumed groups and most beautiful handcarts will be awarded in this event.

The "Lions" camp and live music are part of the celebrations for both the Zoch and Children and Youth Parade.

The Zoch will feature 131 wagons, 12 of which have motto designs by top designer Jacques Tilly. A total of 11,624 participants will take part in the Zoch, approaching the 12,000 mark.

Safety is a top priority during the Zoch, with 556 volunteer "Wagenengel" ensuring everything runs smoothly. Interestingly, horses in the Zoch will be starting but will be pulled by tractors instead of carriages.

The Children and Youth Parade will break a record this year with 4,054 participants. A small route change has been made: the parade will turn onto Königsallee behind the Steigenberger Parkhotel, along the Opera towards Heinrich-Heine-Allee.

In addition to the parades, the Düsseldorf Citizens' Guard invites you to a camp with a program at the "Bergische Lion."

The Topping-Out Ceremony will take place on Friday at 3 P.M. at the Wagenbauhalle Merowinger Street. The parade will be broadcast live on TV by ARD Sender "One" from 1:30 P.M.

With around 750,000 Jecken expected on the streets, it's shaping up to be a lively and exciting carnival season in Düsseldorf! Zochleiter Hermann Schmitz is even more optimistic, predicting that the number of participants will surpass the million mark. So, mark your calendars and join in the fun!
