Angel's Back Issue: No Return Date Set for Angel Reese's Upcoming Game

Chicago Sky's Angel Reese Makes a Strong Return Against Seattle Storm

After missing seven consecutive games due to a lingering back injury, Angel Reese made a triumphant return to the court for the Chicago Sky on Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The comeback came against the Seattle Storm, where Reese showcased a strong performance, scoring 19 points, grabbing seven rebounds, and dishing out four assists [1][3].

Reese had been sidelined since the All-Star break and was given the green light to return to practice over the weekend before resuming game action [1][4]. The Chicago Sky have confirmed her progress and successful return to full participation as of August 19, 2025 [1][2][4].

The return marks the end of her absence caused by the back injury that had kept her out for most of the last two months. There is no current indication of further restrictions on her return beyond the expected caution given the previous injury.

Prior to her injury, Reese had made history by recording her first career triple-double on June 15 against the Connecticut Sun. She also became the first player in WNBA history with multiple double-double streaks of at least 10 games [2].

Reese is the Chicago Sky's leading scorer, rebounder, and assists provider, with averages of 14.2 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists respectively [2]. However, since the WNBA All-Star break, she has only played in two games.

The game was played in Indianapolis, but the Chicago Sky fell short, losing to the Indiana Fever with a score of 92-70. The Fever's victory was partly due to an 8-0 run they initiated at the start of the third quarter, stretching their lead to 19 points and never looking back [5].

First-year head coach Tyler Marsh is taking a cautious approach with Reese's recovery, ensuring she is fully fit before pushing her too hard [6]. Despite the setbacks, Reese remains optimistic, stating that she doesn't think about her injury when she is on the court to avoid it happening again [7].

Unfortunately, Caitlin Clark, an All-Star guard for the Indiana Fever, was also absent from the game due to a groin injury [8]. Kelsey Mitchell led the Fever with 26 points and eight assists.

The Chicago Sky are currently 6 ½ games out of the final playoff spot with 13 games left in the season. Reese's return could provide a much-needed boost for the team as they strive to secure a playoff berth.
