Angelina Jolie plans to sell her residence in Hollywood, marking a significant departure from the entertainment industry.
Angelina Jolie to Sell Historic Los Angeles Home, Move Abroad
Angelina Jolie, the acclaimed actress and humanitarian, is set to sell her historic Los Angeles estate and move abroad following the completion of her custody arrangements with ex-husband Brad Pitt. The sale is expected to take place next year, when her youngest children, twins Knox and Vivienne, turn 18.
The Los Angeles home, purchased in 2017 for $24.5 million, has a rich Hollywood history. Originally Cecil B. DeMille's estate, it was later expanded by merging the neighboring home owned by Charlie Chaplin. The property boasts six bedrooms, ten bathrooms, and has undergone restorations to preserve its vintage character, including delicate molding and elegant wainscoting. The estate also features a swimming pool, a tea house, and a fitness room in the pool house.
Jolie has expressed a desire for a fresh start and a life outside Los Angeles. She has been open about only remaining in the city due to the divorce and custody terms. The actress is reportedly considering several foreign locations that promise more privacy for her large family and a life away from Hollywood's public scrutiny. She has also indicated wanting to spend time in Cambodia after leaving the U.S.
The actress's decision to sell her home comes amidst reports of a compromised security system at her mansion. A trespasser was arrested in her Los Feliz neighborhood in July, shortly after Brad Pitt's home was burglarized while he was in Tokyo.
The union between Jolie and Pitt ended in 2016 in a dramatic fashion, with an alleged physical altercation on a private plane. The divorce was not finalized until late 2024. The actress has six children with Pitt: Maddox, 24, Pax, 21, Zahara, 20, Shiloh, 19, and twins Knox and Vivienne, who will turn 18 next year.
Recently, Shiloh, aged 19, has temporarily moved in with her rumored love interest Keoni Rose for the summer. The details of their fractured relationship with their six children remain unresolved.
