Angelika Hießerich-Peter appointed to FDP's national leadership body - Enhanced influence of Saarland's FDP liberals

The Saarland FDP has made a significant impact on the national stage with the election of Angelika Hießerich-Peter to the federal board of the Free Democratic Party (FDP). This strong result for the Saarland FDP was demonstrated at the recent federal party conference, where nine delegates from the region were present.

Angelika Hießerich-Peter, a communicative rising figure within the party, will now represent the interests of Saarland and the medium-sized economy in the liberal leadership body. As an entrepreneur, she is acutely aware of the current mood in the middle class and emphasized her belief in individual responsibility during her presentation to the delegates.

The new federal chairman of the FDP, Christian Dürr, highlighted the importance of the party in the current situation. He stated that Germany is in crisis, with a stagnating economy and the middle class groaning under bureaucracy. Dürr also emphasized the need for the FDP to reinvent itself out of conviction, not defiance.

Young people, according to Dürr, are increasingly doubting whether effort pays off. He mentioned education, energy, and migration as among the many problems that remain unsolved, with answers remaining timid.

With over 76 percent of the votes, Angelika Hießerich-Peter was elected as a member of the federal board with a clear mandate. She described herself as a liberal with "heart and roots," and during her tenure as the chairwoman of the Saarland state association of the FDP, she focused on individual responsibility.

The election of Angelika Hießerich-Peter to the federal board sends a signal for more involvement and presence at the federal level for the Saarland FDP. As she now represents the interests of Saarland and the medium-sized economy in the liberal leadership body, her influence is expected to be felt in the coming months and years.
