Angel City FC Appoints Alexander Straus as New Leading Coach
Ready, set, Straus!
Who'd have thought it, huh? After a marathon search, Angel City FC has finally found their new head honcho - none other than Alexander Straus! He's set to join the squad on June 1, 2025, following his swan song with FC Bayern München Women.
Since its inception, Angel City has already seen three head coaches, parting ways with Becki Tweed at the end of the 2024 NWSL season. Straus marks the club's first male boss, shaking things up a bit!

The Straus Era Begins
With over a decade under his belt in the coaching game, Straus has compiled some impressive milestones. He made history by leading Sandviken to their very first Toppserien league title and a Norwegian Cup final in 2021.
His inaugural season with FC Bayern Munich Women saw him clinching his first Bundesliga title in 2022/2023, followed by another victory in 2023/2024. At the time of penning this article, Straus is on a roll, aiming for the club's third straight league title.

Angel City kicked off the 2025 season under Interim Head Coach Sam Laity, boasting an impeccable undefeated streak in their first four games with a 2-2-0 record. When Straus lands on the scene, Laity will stay on board as an assistant coach.
Despite being the sole club in the league to start the 2025 regular season sans a permanent head coach, Angel City has been shining like a beacon, achieving the best start in the club's chronicles.
Angel City will be back on the field on Friday, April 18 against Gotham FC at 7:30pm PT/10:30pm ET. Straus' debut with the team will be on Saturday, June 7 at 7pm PT/10pm ET against the Chicago Stars.
