Andalusia braces for a dramatic drop in temperatures, with a chilly wind lowering it by 10 degrees, accompanied by rainfall in the provinces.
Andalusia, Spain, is set to experience an abrupt change in weather in the coming days, as the stifling heat of summer is pushed away by the arrival of autumn.
According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), a significant drop in temperatures is expected this weekend, with a decrease of between 5 and 10 degrees in the maximum temperatures. This change will be particularly noticeable on Saturday and especially on Sunday.
On Friday, temperatures in Andalusia will remain high, with thermometers reaching around 36-38 degrees. However, the cities in Andalusia where the maximum temperatures are expected to drop significantly starting from the weekend include Malaga and other parts of Andalusia that have experienced temperatures around 39 to 40 degrees Celsius during the week. The cooling is expected to begin from Friday onwards.
In Malaga, temperatures will not rise above 30 degrees during the weekend. In Seville and Cordoba, temperatures will drop from almost 40 degrees to 30°C by Monday. In Granada and Jaen, showers are expected on Sunday, with maximum temperatures between 29°C and 26°C.
In Almeria, Cadiz, or Huelva, maximum temperatures will fall below 30 degrees, with skies featuring intervals of cloud.
A front and a 'cold air tongue' in the upper layers of the atmosphere will cause this drop in temperatures. A yellow alert has been issued for Thursday due to a significant risk during the central hours, between 13:00 and 21:00.
