American pop sensation Anastacia, best known for her hit "I'm Outta Love," expresses elation over the health progress of the British royals following their cancer fights. The 56-year-old divulged her sentiments to Deutsche Presse-Agentur in London, referencing her own struggles with the disease. After diagnoses with breast cancer on two separate occasions, she opted for a double mastectomy in 2013.
"Of course, you want them to be in good health. You don't want them to suffer. It's lovely to see them making it through," the singer shared, launching a European tour this week to honor the 25th anniversary of her debut album "Not That Kind" with shows in Barcelona. The German tour commences on March 31 in Berlin, followed by performances in Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Hannover, Hamburg, and Nuremberg. Her debut album will also be reissued on vinyl next month.
Anastacia finds inspiration in her own illnesses
Paralleling King Charles (76) and Princess Kate (43), who debuted their cancer diagnoses last year, Anastacia has utilized her health crises to advocate for the importance of health screenings. She believes celebrities openly sharing their illnesses instills a sense of empathy, as it emphasizes that everyone, regardless of status, faces similar emotional upheavals in the face of unexpected hardships. Reflecting on her own battles, she considers her illnesses as a respite from the hectic pop-star life. "Maybe it was a blessing to have health-related pauses in my life," she mused. She admires artists who can manage a regular life while maintaining a notable career in the limelight for decades. "I've no idea how they do it," she quipped.
