Anapa Braces for Dangerous Storm With High Waves and Gale Winds
Strong winds and high waves are set to hit the Anapa region and Temryuk district from January 2 to 3. Authorities have issued warnings as powerful southerly gusts and rough seas raise concerns for coastal safety.
Southerly winds of 20–25 metres per second will batter Anapa on January 2–3. Waves are expected to reach 2–3 metres overnight, with heights climbing to 3–4 metres during the day on January 3. The turbulent conditions will continue, with waves of 1.5–2.5 metres persisting until late on January 3.
Local emergency services, including EMERCOM, harbour authorities, and the coastguard, are preparing for the storm. Measures such as evacuations, securing anchored ships, and activating warning systems have been planned. Residents and tourists have been advised to stay well away from the shoreline due to the dangerous conditions. Meteorological services are working alongside regional administrations to monitor the situation. The focus remains on preventing damage and ensuring public safety as the severe weather moves in.
The storm is expected to ease by the end of January 3, though waves may remain hazardous for some time. Authorities will keep safety measures in place until conditions improve. Residents have been urged to follow official updates and avoid coastal areas until the alert is lifted.
