From viral humorist to vulnerable storyteller—Martins trades laughs for honesty. What happens when a comedian stops hiding behind the jokes?

The image shows a man standing on a stage in a black and white photo. He is wearing a white shirt and dark trousers, and has a serious expression on his face. His hands are clasped in front of him and his feet are slightly apart. He appears to be in the middle of a performance, with his arms outstretched and his head tilted slightly to the side.

Ana Garcia Martins bares her soul in raw new stand-up Insuficiente

Ana Garcia Martins, the comedian known as A Pipoca Mais Doce, is returning to stand-up with her second solo show, Insuficiente. The performance will premiere in April 2023 at Porto's and Lisbon's Coliseus. This time, she dives into deeply personal struggles she rarely shares—even with those closest to her.

Martins began her comedy career writing humour for blogs before gaining fame through podcasts and her online persona. Her first stand-up appearance was a roast, but she later stepped back from live performances. Now, she makes a comeback with Insuficiente, a show shaped by her lifelong battles with self-doubt and imposter syndrome.

The title, meaning *Insufficient*, reflects themes she's carried since childhood. On stage, she confronts thoughts like *'Nunca chego'* (I never get there), *'Há sempre quem faça melhor'* (Someone always does it better), and *'Vão descobrir que sou uma fraude'* (They'll find out I'm a fraud). These fears, she admits, haunt her sleep and remain taboo in everyday conversation. In a recent interview on *Humor À Primeira Vista*, hosted by Gustavo Carvalho, Martins revealed she no longer seeks approval from fellow comedians. The show promises raw honesty, blending sharp humour with the vulnerabilities she's long kept private.

Insuficiente marks a bold shift for Martins, moving beyond light-hearted comedy to explore unspoken struggles. The April performances in Porto and Lisbon will test her new direction. Audiences will see a side of her she's never fully exposed—on stage or off.
