AMT Awards 2026 to Honor Top Aviation Maintenance Professionals

The aviation maintenance industry is preparing to celebrate its top professionals with the return of the AMT Most Influential in Maintenance Awards. Nominations for the 2026 edition will open in late February, offering recognition across eight distinct categories. The awards highlight everything from innovation and mentorship to safety and sustainability in aircraft maintenance.

The eight categories cover a wide range of achievements within the sector. The Top Trainer Award will honour educators who specialise in hands-on, practical training for future mechanics. Meanwhile, the A&P Innovator of the Year will celebrate mechanics driving change through new ideas and approaches.

For those early in their careers, the AMT Rising Star Award recognises promising new mechanics making an impact. The Mechanic Mentorship Award focuses on experienced professionals who guide and upskill the next generation. The Outstanding Inspector Award will go to certified Aviation Safety Inspectors excelling in their roles.

Technology and safety also take centre stage. The Digital Pioneer Award rewards individuals implementing cutting-edge tech in maintenance operations. The Excellence in Safety Management Award highlights professionals ensuring top-tier safety standards in MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) facilities.

These awards come at a time when sustainability has become a major focus in aviation. Between 2021 and 2026, key organisations like the International Air Transport Association (IATA) launched its SAF Program and environmental certifications. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) introduced sustainability requirements in maintenance standards, while the Air Transport Action Group (ATAG) promoted green practices through its sustainability framework. Each category has its own eligibility criteria, and nominations must be submitted to the correct one.

The AMT Most Influential in Maintenance Awards will once again spotlight the people shaping the future of aircraft maintenance. With nominations opening in late February 2026, the industry will soon have the chance to recognise those leading in training, innovation, safety, and sustainability. Winners will join a growing list of professionals driving progress in aviation maintenance.
