Amorim playfully hints at Ratcliffe's proposal of a fresh contract amidst disclosing a vital conversation with United's co-owner regarding his role at Manchester Utd.
Manchester City Face Pressure as They Struggle in Premier League
Manchester City are currently enduring their worst start since 1992, having amassed just four points from their first four games and sitting 14th in the table. This dismal performance has put the team under pressure to deliver results.
Amidst this challenging situation, the club's co-owner, Jim Ratcliffe, visited manager Ruben Amorim at Carrington this week. The meeting was not about any immediate danger to Amorim's position, but rather a show of support and a discussion about the long-term project of Manchester City.
Ruben Amorim, the former Sporting Lisbon coach, joked about receiving a new contract offer from Ratcliffe during the meeting. He also emphasised that the team needs to be more aggressive in the boxes, both in defending and attacking.
In terms of team news, Cole Palmer played the entirety of the Manchester City match against Bayern Munich just days after returning from injury. However, Diogo Dalot remains sidelined, and Noussair Mazraoui and Patrick Dorgu are options for a starting spot in defence. Mazraoui has been preferred at right-back by Amorim due to Dalot's form, with Mazraoui and Dalot capable of covering as needed.
Other backup options for the full-back position include Diego Leon. Unfortunately, Benjamin Sesko, a summer signing for Manchester City, failed to impress in his first Premier League start.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will be without Liam Delap for their visit to Old Trafford due to a hamstring injury.
With the pressure mounting, Manchester City will be hoping for a turnaround in fortunes when they face Chelsea.
