The human rights watchdog, Amnesty International, has leveled serious allegations against Iran's security forces. In some appalling instances, gang rapes have been reported. The Iranian authorities, however, have yet to charge any of the perpetrators associated with the secret services or security forces. "Sexualized violence is one of the most brutal weapons in the Iranian authorities' arsenal to humiliate protesters and suppress criticism," said Julia Duchrow, Secretary General of Amnesty International Germany.
