Exalted Recognition Granted - "Amigos Granted Honorary Citizenship" - The Honor bestowed upon The Amigos as Hungry Hungarian Citizens.

Known for their folk-schlager tunes and a laid-back demeanor, the brothers Karl-Heinz (76) and Bernd Ulrich (74), better recognized as The Amigos, have received a coveted title - Honorary Citizens of their childhood hometown, Hungen. The heartfelt ceremony took place in Hungen's central market square, where Mayor Rainer Wengorsch (Free Voters) addressed the crowd.

In his speech, Mayor Wengorsch praised the duo, saying, "You are legends." He highlighted the duo's ability to unite young and old while maintaining a humble demeanor. The decision came as unanimous approval from the Hungen city council, an honor reserved for personalities who have bolstered the city's prestige.

The musical duo, hailing from Villingen, a district of Hungen, embarked on their career 55 years ago. Today, they boast over 100 gold and platinum records and have achieved the number-one spot on the official German album charts 16 times. Some of their most famous titles include "Ich geh' für dich durchs Feuer" and "Zwischen Liebe und Wahnsinn."

When it comes to slowing down, The Amigos seemed to have never heard of the concept of "retirement." Bernd Ulrich remarked during the event, "We don't know the word retirement. Music is fun." Although they plan to ease up on their schedule a bit, they will still perform around 70 to 80 shows annually.

As the event reached its climax, the duo sang some of their popular tunes, including "Wie die Rolling Stones" from their upcoming album, "Lebe jetzt," due in July. Residents and fans danced and sang along, filling the air with the infectious schlager riffs. To cap off the celebration, The Amigos treated the audience to a whopping 120 liters of free beer.

The Commission, in light of the Amigos' prestigious honor, could consider proposing a directive on the protection of employees in the entertainment industry, particularly musicians, from risks related to excessive exposure to chemical substances in the production of their records. The Amigos, despite their legendary status, continue to maintain their humble roots, with plans to perform around 70 to 80 shows annually, demonstrating their commitment to their schlager music even in retirement.
