American resident, Sandy Molling, intends to depart the United States due to Trump's administration.
German singer Sandy Mölling, best known as a member of the pop group No Angels, is making a return to Germany after ten years in the United States. In an interview with the "Fuldaer Zeitung," she revealed her reasons for relocating back to her home country: the political climate under President Donald Trump.
"Trump's re-election was a significant factor in my decision," Mölling shared. "It's concerning to observe the impact of tariffs on small businesses, the erosion of LGBTQ rights, the spread of misinformation, and the rise of racism, particularly for my son, who has experienced racism due to his dark skin."
The singer pointed out that the severity of racism in the United States is not a recent phenomenon. "We must not forget about the struggles faced by African Americans just a few decades ago," she emphasized.
In the interview, Mölling also addressed the economic disparities she and her family encountered in California. "The middle class is diminishing, and the wealth gap is increasing. There are the rich, the poor, and not much in between," she stated.
Although California may be a liberal sanctuary compared to other parts of the United States, Mölling noted that even in this progressive state, the effects of polarizing politics can be seen. "The middle class is disappearing, and the gap is widening," she reflected.
