American-German national apprehended for attempted arson attack on U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel.

A 28-year-old dual citizen of the United States and Germany identified as Joseph Neumayer, hailing from Colorado, faced arrest earlier this month for allegedly attempting to firebomb the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, Israel, and making threats against former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Neumayer, who was taken into custody at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City by FBI special agents following his deportation from Israel, reportedly traveled to Israel in April. On May 19, he approached the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv, carrying a backpack. He spat at an embassy guard without provocation and managed to flee as the guard attempted to detain him. The backpack was left behind outside the embassy after the altercation.

Upon searching the backpack, authorities found three Molotov cocktails. Local law enforcement tracked down Neumayer at his hotel, leading to his arrest.

Investigators discovered that before visiting the embassy, Neumayer allegedly posted threatening messages on social media, including an invitation for others to join him in burning down the embassy and expressing hatred towards America and Americans. He also made threats against President Trump.

Israel subsequently deported Neumayer on Sunday. Following his arrest in New York City, Neumayer was charged with attempting to destroy the U.S. Embassy using fire or explosives. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

Attorney General Pamela Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel expressed strong disapproval of Neumayer's alleged actions, describing them as "despicable and violent." The Department of Justice plans to prosecute Neumayer to the fullest extent of the law to prevent and punish violent acts against U.S. diplomatic missions and citizens.
