American Companions and the Fortunino Award Recipients
The International Friends of Festival Verdi (IFFV), a non-profit association based in the United States, has announced its successful fundraising efforts last year, totaling two million euros. This money will be used to support appropriate education and entertainment strategies, as well as to aid the Parma festival and the Teatro Regio in Italy.
IFFV, whose members are personalities from finance, publishing, and business, achieves its goals through various activities. One such activity is the Fortunino Award, a prestigious honour given to emerging young talents from the Festival Verdi. The second edition of the Fortunino Award will be presented at the Lincoln Center in New York next spring, but the specific presenter for the event has yet to be announced.
The Fortunino Award is not a fundraising event, as some may have assumed. Instead, it is a part of IFFV's strategies to promote new studies and research on Verdi's music, which is the main goal of the organisation. The award is not related to the support of the Teatro Regio, but IFFV generously supports both the Parma festival and the Teatro Regio.
The Festival Verdi, under the patronage of IFFV, has been crowned 'Best Festival' at the International Opera Awards. The 2024 edition of the Festival boasts an impressive Social Return On Investment (SROI) of 3.2, a record for the event.
IFFV's overseas patrons have played a significant role in the organisation's success. In addition to their financial contributions, they also work towards achieving IFFV's mission by supporting the organisation's activities.
With approximately 100 members, IFFV continues to make a significant impact in promoting and preserving Verdi's legacy, as well as supporting the cultural institutions of Parma, Italy.
