AMCH Marks 79th Foundation Day, Launches ₹300 Crore Infrastructure Boost & Robotic Surgery Plans
Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh marked its 79th Foundation Day. The event saw the launch of a significant infrastructure support package from the Assam Government, totalling ₹300 crore. AMCH also announced plans to introduce robotic surgery facilities, underscoring its commitment to cutting-edge healthcare advancements.
AMCH, established in 1947, traces its roots back to the historic Berry White Medical School founded in 1900. The celebration was attended by key figures, including Principal Dr. Sanjib Kakati and Superintendent Dr. Dhruvajyoti Bhuyan. Dibrugarh Mayor Dr. Saikat Patra and BCPL Managing Director Pranjal Changmai were also present, joining a delegation from the Indian Medical Association (IMA) who visited the event.
Dr. Kakati extended gratitude to the Assam Government for the substantial infrastructure support. This funding will enable AMCH to enhance its facilities and services, further bolstering its reputation as a leading healthcare institution in the region. The launch of robotic surgery facilities is set to revolutionise surgical procedures, offering patients minimally invasive, precise, and faster recovery options.
