Interestingly, Rita does not feature in Margaret Atwood's original The Testaments novel, something THR pointed out during their interview with Brugel. Intriguingly, Brugel hinted at the possibility of her return to the role of beloved character Rita, teasing: "She's not [in the novel]. But that doesn't mean you might not see her."
