Amal Clooney filed a lawsuit against Lafarge in the Eastern District of New York, alleging the company's criminal conspiracy with ISIS and aiming for justice and compensation for the Yazidi community. The lawsuit, filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act, is led by Yazidi activist Nadia Murad.

Lafarge is accused of supporting ISIS during its genocide against the Yazidis. Back in 2014, ISIS forcibly displaced over 400,000 Yazidis, a majority of whom were US citizens. Amal Clooney has been championing Yazidi human rights, particularly through her representation of Nadia Murad.

The lawsuit claims that Lafarge provided financial aid and materials for ISIS, leading to extreme human rights abuses. Lafarge confessed to paying millions of dollars to ISIS and its affiliate, Al-Nusra Front, which furthered their violent operations in Syria.

Despite Lafarge admitting guilt, the compensation paid was not used for victim relief. The lawsuit aims to hold Lafarge accountable, provide justice to Yazidi victims, and enable them to return to their homes in Iraq.

Notably, Amal Clooney won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012 for her efforts in advocating for survivors of sexual violence during war. Her reputation as a champion for human rights and justice adds weight to this case.
