Alverca has recruited Sandro Lima, boosting their squad to 26 reinforcements.

Football team Alverca, hailing from the top division, revealed today the securing of forward Sandro Lima, aged 34, previously with Atlético Goianiense, for competition in Portugal once more.

Alverca, the Ribatejanos, are gearing up for the new season with a fresh roster and high expectations. The team, which returns to the national football elite after a 21-year absence, has announced the signing of two notable players - Sandro Lima and Sabit Abdulai.

Sandro Lima, a 34-year-old striker, joins Alverca after playing in Brazil's Serie B for Atlético Goianiense. In the 2024/25 season, he scored 4 goals and provided 2 assists in 24 games. Before his stint in Brazil, Lima has a history of playing in Portugal, China, Turkey, and South Korea. His career in Portugal includes spells at Rio Ave, Academico Viseu, Chaves, Estoril Praia, and Gil Vicente between 2013/14 and 2019/20. Notably, he won a division title in South Korea during his career.

Lima will be presenting himself to Alverca's members and fans on the day the squad is presented. The opponent for Alverca's first official game of the 2025/26 season is Moreirense, coached by the former Alverca coach, Vasco Botelho da Costa.

Meanwhile, the Ghanaian midfielder Sabit Abdulai has been signed from Portugal's I Liga football, from the Brazilians of Botafogo, from São Paulo. Abdulai's first words as Alverca's reinforcement were about his objectives: "I want to help Alverca establish a position in the I Liga. We want to ensure maintenance and consolidate this project."

The team will be coached by Custódio Castro in the 2025/26 season. Alverca has presented 25 reinforcements for the new season, including Lima and Abdulai. The squad already includes goalkeepers André Paulo, Mateus, and André Gomes, defenders Kauan Gomes, Bastien Meupiyou, Steven Baseya, Naves, Isaac James, Ikker Julian, Lamine Ndiaye, and Gonçalo Esteves, midfielders Abderrahmane Soumare, Gian Cabezas, Tomás Mendes, Davy Gui, and Alex Amorim, and forwards Stéphane Diarra, Chiquinho, Junior Mendes, Cédric Nuozzi, Léo Chu, Tiago Leite, Marko Milovanovic, and Felipe Lima.

The Ribatejanos squad presentation will take place on the day when the team will be presented to the members and fans. Alverca will play their first official game of the 2025/26 season away to Moreirense on August 10. With a strong squad and high morale, Alverca is ready to make a mark on the I Liga this season.

Sandro Lima, previously playing in European leagues such as Portugal and South Korea, has been signed by Alverca, who will compete in football matches across European-leagues this season. In an ambitious pursuit, Lima aim's to help Alverca secure a place in the I Liga and maintain their project, as he joins the team alongside Ghanaian midfielder, Sabit Abdulai.
