Aluminum Long-Range Vessel A80 Supercat from Archipelago: Flexible Design for Navigation

Breaking News: Awe-Inspiring Exploration Yacht, A80 Supercat Revealed!

British yacht brand, Archipelago Expedition Yachts, has dropped jaws with its latest creation - the A80 supercat. Not only can this badass vessel provide long-range cruising, but it's packed with a customized interior perfect for the adventurous soul.

The A80 supercat is the brainchild of Chartwell Marine, known for its design of the smaller Archipelago adventure craft. This all-aluminium sub-24m trideck power-cat serves up power like a dream. It boasts a proposed diesel-electric propulsion system designed for efficient long-range cruising, ensuring every mile is powered with precision and efficiency.

With a suggested powertrain of an e-Motion diesel-electric installation, which includes twin 1,300hp MAN diesels, twin 250kW electric propulsors, 150kWh of type-approved batteries, an optional 180kW generator, and solar panelling with a peak power contribution of 20kW, this supercat masterpiece is anything but ordinary.

Such a powerful setup grants the vessel a total fuel capacity of around 20,000 litres, allowing for comfortable trans-oceanic cruising, even sans the optional paravane assistance. Speed-wise, the A80 can give you up to a whopping 28 knots, depending on engine choice.

Described as a yacht primarily for owner-operators, the A80 offers ample space and a flexible interior layout. Building in aluminum allows for an impressive level of customization, including the perfect arrangement of guest quarters, crew quarters, and even the possibility of a main-deck master suite.

The outside spaces echo the adaptability of the interior. The cockpit, for starters, doubles as a cargo area, thanks to a large crane suitable for lifting amphibious vehicles, personal submersibles, or even a 20ft ISO container for diving gear, toys, or other equipment. The company even throws around a mind-blowing 16-tonne payload.

Another crane graces the bow, helping RIBs and PWCs find a cozy nest, although probably not for those daring explorations during heavy weather.

Founder of Archipelago, Dr. Stephen Weatherley, explains that the brand revolves around safety, simplicity, space, and a shallow draft, making the A80 supercat the ideal choice for exploring remote, shallow waters compared to deeper draft mono-hull explorer yachts.
