Mayor's Cup Shooting Event: TTV Altenstein Takes the Win

The annual Mayor's Cup shooting event, a cherished tradition in Bad Liebenstein, recently concluded with the TTV Altenstein club emerging victorious. The competition, which emphasizes concentration, precision, and shared enjoyment, saw numerous clubs participating, including the Bad Liebenstein Firefighters' Association and Steinbach Traditional and Kermis Association.

Held at the "Wayndkoppe" shooting range, this event is organised by the Bad Liebenstein Shooting Club. The current standings for the club rankings are as follows: TTV Altenstein with 122 rings, Bad Liebenstein Firefighters' Association with 121 rings, and Steinbach Traditional and Kermis Association with 119 rings.

Individual performances were impressive, with Patrick Iffert securing the top spot with 45/50 rings, followed by Andreas Lorenz with 42/50 rings, and Christian Fuchs with 40/50 rings. However, last year's winners, the Nature and Homeland Friends, did not manage to secure a win this time around.

Mayor Susanne Rakowski praised the event for its unique atmosphere, while also appreciating the combination of sports, fun, and good catering. The travelling trophy for the Mayor's Cup remains the same: a wooden cup adorned with symbolic carvings representing all the districts of Bad Liebenstein, topped with a target. This trophy was designed by shooting club member Jörg Fernes and brought to life by wood artist Kerstin Genschow.

Looking ahead, club chairman Jürgen Nothnagel announced plans for the 11th edition of the event to take place on Saturday, September 12, 2026, before the Heritage Day Open Day. Unfortunately, there is currently no information available about the chairman of the Bad Liebenstein shooting sports club who is responsible for planning this event.

The Mayor's Cup shooting event also provides opportunities for conversation, idea exchange, and network maintenance within clubs. As such, it continues to be a significant event in the Bad Liebenstein community.
