Altay District thrives as agriculture and industry fuel 2025 economic boom
Altay District, a multicultural haven, harmoniously blends diverse ethnicities preserving rich traditions. It's a hub of economic activity with 3,414 SMEs employing 9,800 people. Agriculture, its backbone, spans 77,100 hectares and supports local food security and income.
In the first nine months of 2025, Altay's dairy farms produced 3,414.3 tons of milk, with 3,257.3 tons going to processing plants. This robust agricultural output, along with a 24.1% rise in wholesale trade turnover to 7.944 billion tenge, has driven the district's economic growth. Industrial output surged by 9.6% to 29.383 billion tenge, while retail trade turnover grew by 9.5% to 33.644 billion tenge.
The district's five dairy farms, housing 1,548 cattle including 1,025 milking cows, are a significant contributor to this success. Altay's scenic landscapes, featuring mountainous forests and crystal-clear rivers, also support tourism and resource development, complementing its agrarian and industrial sectors.
Altay District's blend of agrarian and industrial sectors, bolstered by a thriving agricultural backbone and diverse natural resources, has resulted in a 4.4% increase in gross agricultural production to 36.145 billion tenge. This harmonious balance of economic activities ensures a robust and sustainable local economy.
