Alnatura Goji Berry Recall Warnings

German organic retailer, Alnatura, has issued a recall for their goji berries due to the risk of salmonella contamination. The affected goji berries have best-before dates ranging from July 4, 2024, to October 22, 2024. The company announced the recall on a recent Friday, stating that the unwanted berries are no longer available for purchase.

Salmonella infection, a potential threat resulting from the consumption of these berries, might result in symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and a mild fever. While these symptoms usually subside within a day, infants, children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems might experience more severe health issues.

Fortunately, no reported cases of Salmonella infections among Alnatura consumers in Germany have been reported. The recall was enacted as a result of salmonella detection in a sample of the goji berries.

Consumers who have already purchased the affected products should refrain from consuming them and instead return the items to Alnatura retailers for exchanges. Berries with best-before dates other than those listed are not affected by the recall.

The incident took place in Darmstadt, Germany, where Alnatura operates, and the affected goji berries were sourced from Hesse, a region in Germany.
