Can't believe it's nearly the end of the year and over 20,000 tickets for the much-anticipated New Year's Eve bash, "Celebrate at the Gate," have already been snapped up at the iconic Brandenburg Gate in Berlin! The organizer, Deutsche Entertainment AG (DEAG), revealed this exciting figure only a month before the big night. Traditionally known as Germany's biggest New Year's Eve shindig, this event is now following suit with other large-scale events and asking for a small ten-buck contribution per head. This "security fee" covers not just production costs but also the increased security requirements and personnel expenses.
So, what's in store for those lucky enough to secure their ticket? This year, the party will feature a mind-blowing line-up of sixteen artists and bands, including Chris Norman, Tream, Luca Hänni, and Roy Bianco & Die Abbrunzati Boys. The show will be broadcast on German TV channel ZDF and will be punctuated by an awe-inspiring high-altitude fireworks display and "video mappings" of the Brandenburg Gate, blending it seamlessly with stage pyrotechnics.
What a turnaround from the subdued celebrations the previous year, when only 2,500 revelers attended a New Year's Eve party on Pariser Platz due to pandemic restrictions. This year's party will move to the other side of the gate on Straße des 17. Juni, with capacity for up to 65,000 joyful souls. Back in the day, the estimated number of attendees could sometimes reach one million!
As always, Berlin's Land authorities have their say on the New Year's Eve festivities, ensuring that the event runs smoothly and safely for all involved. So, whether you're a Berliner or just visiting this magical city, get your tickets and lets get this New Year's Eve party started, Brandenburg Gate style!
