Almeida concluded the Rosenstrike bout in the headlining match-up of UFC on ABC 4
In the bustling city of Charlotte, North Carolina, the UFC on ABC 4 event took place on May 13th and 14th, 2023. The event was filled with intense battles and memorable performances.
One of the standout fighters of the night was Jailton Almeida, a rising star in the UFC heavyweight division. Almeida, who hails from Brazil, made his main event debut and did not disappoint. He defeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik, currently ranked No.9 in the division, via rear-naked choke in the first round, extending his impressive UFC record to approximately 22 wins and 3 losses.
Dana White, UFC President, commented on Almeida's potential to become a heavyweight star. Almeida has landed only two significant strikes in the UFC (5-0), preferring to finish fights on the ground with rear-naked chokes or ground and pound.
In a post-fight interview, Almeida expressed his admiration for undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov and his desire to face Tai Tuivasa next. However, as of August 2025, there is no confirmed or officially announced fight scheduled between Almeida and Tuivasa.
Other notable performances of the night included Matt "The Immortal" Brown, who knocked out Cort "Crusher" McGee in the first round, and Taila "Tae Pee" Santos, who finished Jessica-Rose Clark by rear-naked choke in the third round.
The co-main event saw Anthony Smith suffer his second consecutive loss, falling to Johnny Walker via unanimous decision. Walker, who is from Brazil, is currently ranked No.10 in the UFC light heavyweight division.
Performance of the Night bonuses were awarded to Matt Brown, Jailton Almeida, Carlos Ulberg, Ian Garry, and Brian Battle. The headliners were Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Jailton Almeida, both top heavyweight division contenders.
In the welterweight division, Ian "The Future" Garry finished Daniel Rodriguez via TKO in the first round, while Alex "Big Dawg" Morono submitted Tim Means with a guillotine choke in the second round. Carlos "Black Jag" Ulberg finished Igor "The Duke" Potier via TKO in the first round, and Brian Battle knocked out Gabriel Green at 14 seconds of the first round in a catchweight up to 78.5 kg.
