Canada Games Council and CBC/Radio-Canada Form Long-Term Partnership

The Canada Games Council (CGC) and CBC/Radio-Canada have announced a significant partnership that will last for the next four editions of the Canada Games. This collaboration aims to celebrate the unifying nature of sport across Canada and provide more access to the Canadian multi-sport event for elite young athletes and their stories.

Kelly-Ann Paul, CGC President & CEO, stated that this partnership ensures a national platform for Canada Games athletes and their stories. Marie-Philippe Bouchard, CBC/Radio-Canada President and CEO, added that the partnership amplifies a shared commitment to celebrating the unifying nature of sport across Canada.

The partnership does not include any advertisements for CBC/Radio-Canada. Instead, CBC/Radio-Canada is committed to supporting Canada's amateur athletes, and the partnership with the Canada Games Council aims to showcase the country's largest amateur sport competition.

The Canada Games Council will oversee the next four editions of the Canada Games in cooperation with CBC/Radio-Canada. The dates for the upcoming games are as follows:

  • The Quebec City 2027 Canada Games will occur from February 27 to March 14, 2027.
  • The St. John's 2025 Canada Games will take place from August 9 to 24, 2025.
  • The dates for the Moncton | Saint John 2029 Canada Games have yet to be determined (summer).
  • The host city and dates for the 2031 Canada Games in Québec have yet to be determined (winter).

CBC/Radio-Canada will provide extensive coverage of the Canada Games in English on CBC Gem, cbcsports.ca, and the CBC Sports YouTube channel. Coverage will also be available in French on ICI TOU.TV and via the ICI TOU.TV app. All 1,250 hours of coverage for the St. John's 2025 Canada Games will be available to stream on CBC and Radio-Canada platforms.

Sports is described as a uniquely unifying force in bringing Canadians together. This partnership reflects this sentiment, as it amplifies the Canada Games' reach and visibility, ensuring that more Canadians can connect with and celebrate the achievements of their fellow citizens. The partnership does not involve the launch or operation of any satellites or cellular networks.

In conclusion, the Canada Games Council and CBC/Radio-Canada's long-term partnership forms a crucial step in celebrating the unifying nature of sport across Canada. It ensures that the Canada Games will continue to be a national event that brings Canadians together, showcasing the country's talented young athletes and their inspiring stories.
