Allegations detailed against Marius, son of Mette-Marit, encompassing a range of offenses.
Fresh Take:
Prince's Son Under Fire: The Marius Borg Høiby Saga
Pulling No Punches:
Oslo's headlines have been buzzing for nearly a year now, and not in a good way. The alleged wrongdoings of Crown Princess Mette-Marit's eldest son, Marius Borg Høiby, have hit the airwaves. After being accused of a whopping 23 offenses, ranging from sexual assault to traffic violations, Høiby now stands charged, leaving the royal family in a jumble.
The Høiby Chronicles:
Marius, son of Mette-Marit (51) and stepson of Crown Prince Haakon (51), has found himself embroiled in a drama that has ensnared the entire royal family. And, boy, hasn't it been a wild ride. From initially being accused of physical assault and property damage, to later admitting to violence under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, Marius' story is one for the books.
The nail in the coffin came when the police expanded their investigation, resulting in more severe accusations. Marius was arrested several times, with his longest stint in custody happening in Nov 2024 after a barrage of new sexual assault claims surfaced.
Allegations Galore:
The list of allegations against Marius is no joke. According to the Oslo prosecutor, Andreas Kruszewski, Marius is suspected of one count of rape with sexual intercourse, two counts of rape without intercourse, four counts of sexual assault, one count of domestic violence, two counts of bodily harm, one count of property damage, one count of threatening behavior, five counts of violating restraining orders, one count of insulting a police officer, and five counts of traffic violations.
The Waiting Game:
While the list of accusations is lengthy, it's important to remember that the prosecution can reach a different conclusion than the police. As of now, no timeline for the decision on whether or not to press charges has been announced.
Criminal expert Øystein Milli puts it succinctly, "It's crucial to reiterate that the prosecution can make a different call than the police, so it's not a foregone conclusion that charges will be filed."
Stay tuned as this story develops, and we'll be sure to keep you updated on any new developments.
