Alla Pugacheva's youthful glow at 75 sparks silicone mask rumors amid health struggles

Alla Pugacheva, the iconic Russian singer once known as the 'Queen of Soviet Song,' has long been the subject of speculation about her youthful appearance. Decades after her peak in the 1990s, she still looks strikingly young—sometimes even matching the age of her much younger husband. Recent reports now suggest her secret may lie in silicone masks, a technique said to shave years off one's face.

The revelation comes as Pugacheva, now 75, faces health struggles after returning to Russia from self-imposed exile in Israel. Her influence, however, remains undiminished, from her legendary hits to her outspoken political stance on the Ukraine war.

Pugacheva's image has evolved dramatically over the years. In the 1990s, she dominated Soviet pop culture with anthems like Million Roses and even hosted Eurovision in 1995. But by the 2020s, her role shifted from chart-topping artist to a nostalgic yet still commanding cultural figure. Though her new music releases slowed after the 2000s, she stayed in the spotlight through TV appearances, her 2011 film On the Edge, and her bold 2022 move to Israel, where she criticised the war in Ukraine.

Her youthful looks have fuelled rumours for years. In 1992, she reportedly spent $90,000 on liposuction, a facelift, and breast augmentation in Switzerland. Media outlets have since claimed she uses photo retouching and, now, silicone masks—an option producer Sergei Dvortsov confirmed, explaining that the masks can make someone appear up to 15 years younger. Beyond her own transformations, Pugacheva has supported others through theirs. Ballerina Anastasia Volochkova revealed that after her own surgery at a German clinic, Pugacheva offered constant encouragement. She regularly checked on Volochkova's recovery and ensured she never felt alone during the process. Recently, however, Pugacheva's health has become a concern. After returning to Russia, she fell seriously ill and was hospitalised in Moscow. The news has reignited public interest in a woman whose life—both on and off stage—has rarely been out of the headlines.

Pugacheva's career spans decades, from Soviet-era stardom to her later years as a polarising yet revered figure. Her reported use of silicone masks adds another layer to her carefully managed public image. Meanwhile, her recent hospitalisation underscores the challenges she now faces—both as a cultural icon and as an individual navigating health and political controversy.
