Alexandria's First 'State of the Arts ALX' Event to Showcase City's Thriving Arts Scene

Alexandria is set to host its first-ever State of the Arts ALX event on October 15. The celebration, organized by the city's Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities - Office of Arts, aims to showcase the vibrant arts community and its accomplishments. The event is free and open to all, with attendees encouraged to RSVP.

The event will feature audiovisual displays highlighting the city's artistic achievements, including murals and public art along the waterfront. It will be held at the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus, starting at 8:30 a.m.

The celebration will include speeches from notable figures in Alexandria's arts scene. Poet Laureate Maria Cristina Donoso and Jen Goold, executive director of the Neighborhood Design Center, have been confirmed as speakers.
