Alexandria's First 'State of the Arts ALX' Event to Showcase City's Thriving Art Scene
Alexandria is set to host its inaugural State of the Arts ALX event on October 15, at 8:30 a.m. The event, free and open to the public, will take place at the Virginia Tech Innovation Campus. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP.
The city's Department of Recreation, Parks, and Cultural Activities - Office of Arts is hosting the event. It aims to celebrate Alexandria's thriving arts scene and highlight the city's artistic achievements. The event will showcase audiovisual displays of murals and public art along the waterfront.
Poet Laureate Maria Cristina Donoso and Jen Goold, executive director of the Neighborhood Design Center, will be among the speakers. Artists, arts organizations, board members, elected officials, and community stakeholders are invited to attend.
The State of the Arts ALX event is a significant milestone for Alexandria, marking its first-ever dedicated celebration of the city's vibrant arts community. The event promises to be an inspiring showcase of Alexandria's artistic accomplishments.
