Alexander Khmelevski Joins 'Ak Bars' After 'Salavat Yulaev' Trade
Alexander Khmelevski, a prominent hockey player, is leaving 'Salavat Yulaev' to join 'Ak Bars'. The move comes after 'Salavat Yulaev' decided to trade him, despite 'Avangard' offering a higher salary.
Khmelevski's transfer was influenced by financial factors. 'Ak Bars' presented a more lucrative offer, according to hockey expert Nikita Filatov. This swayed Khmelevski's decision, as he had previously turned down a higher salary from 'Avangard' to stay with his home club Lada Togliatti in 2025. Personal reasons, such as proximity to family, also played a significant role in his decision.
Earlier speculations suggested Khmelevski might join 'Avangard'. However, 'Salavat Yulaev' made the final call to trade him to 'Ak Bars'. 'Avangard's' general manager Alexei Sopyan confirmed they were close to signing Khmelevski and offered a higher sum than Kazan.
Alexander Khmelevski is now set to join 'Ak Bars', attracted by their lucrative offer. 'Avangard' has moved on, focusing on strengthening their roster despite the missed opportunity.
