Germany Weather Forecast: Prepare for Severe Storms and High Winds on Thursday
Germany is bracing for a change in weather conditions this week, with the German Weather Service (DWD) issuing a wind warning for much of the country.
On Thursday, June 1, the weather will start off dry in most regions, but showers are expected to move in by the evening. In western and southwestern parts of Germany, heavy rainfalls with thunderstorms and strong showers are expected initially, affecting areas such as Hesse and Saxony-Anhalt. As the day progresses, severe storms with heavy, prolonged rainfall up to 50 liters per square meter, strong winds, and hail are forecast across central Germany, moving eastward, including regions of Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, and Brandenburg.
Gusty winds of up to 75 kilometers per hour are possible across Germany between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM. In western areas around Leipzig and the northern Vogtland district, gusts of up to 85 kilometers per hour are expected. People should be cautious of flying debris due to the strong winds.
As the day turns into night, temperatures will drop significantly. Maximum temperatures on Thursday will be 22 to 24 degrees Celsius in lowlands and 18 to 21 degrees in mountainous regions, but temperatures on Thursday night will drop to 14 to 9 degrees.
Wednesday will start off sunny, then clouds will move in. Maximum temperatures on Wednesday will be 18 to 20 degrees Celsius in lowlands and 13 to 18 degrees in mountainous regions, dropping to 11 to 7 degrees overnight. Light rain may fall in isolated areas on Wednesday.
