Aldi's Cheap Bread Sparks Price War in Swiss Supermarkets

Aldi has sparked a price war in Switzerland's supermarket sector, aiming to become the cheapest retailer. The discount supermarket has slashed prices, including Pfünderli bread to just CHF 0.99. Migros has now joined the fray, offering the same bread for CHF 1. However, Swiss customers' reactions have been mixed.

Aldi's aggressive pricing strategy has seen it reduce gold price by up to 21%, a move welcomed by budget-conscious shoppers. The discount supermarket now offers Pfünderli bread for CHF 0.99, a price point matched by Migros starting today. Other major retailers, such as Lidl, Denner, and Coop, have also lowered their bakery prices in response.

However, not all Swiss customers are pleased with the cheap bread strategy. Street interviews in Zurich revealed negative reactions, with some customers questioning the quality and production process of the discounted bread. Despite this, younger customers have expressed appreciation for the affordable prices.

Aldi's pricing strategy has triggered a wave of discounting across Switzerland's supermarket sector. While some customers appreciate the cheaper bread, others have raised concerns about quality. As the price war continues, shoppers can expect to see more competitive pricing in the bakery aisle.
