New York Yankees Secure ALDS Victory Over Tampa Bay Rays

In a thrilling Game 4 of the American League Division Series (ALDS), the New York Yankees clinched their spot in the ALCS with a 5-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.

Jordan Montgomery, the Yankees' starting pitcher, had a strong outing, allowing only three hits, four strikeouts, and a single earned run. Chad Green replaced Montgomery at the start of the fifth inning, pitching two no-hit innings, while Zack Britton sealed the deal in the later stages of the game. Britton pitched for 2.3 innings, getting five outs in the seventh and two thirds of the eighth, and didn't allow any runs.

The Yankees' offense got off to a quick start in the second inning, with first baseman Luke Voit hitting a solo home run, marking his first ever playoff homer, and DJ LeMahieu following up with a bases loaded sac fly, increasing the Yankees' lead to 2-0.

The Rays responded in the fourth inning with Brandon Lowe scoring a run, narrowing the Yankees' lead to 2-1. However, the Yankees' bullpen held firm, and no runs were scored in the jam created by Montgomery.

The game-breaking moment came in the sixth inning when Gleyber Torres hit a home run, putting the Yankees up 4-1. Torres ended the game with two hits and a stolen base.

In the ninth inning, Gary Sánchez singled in Torres from second base, increasing the Yankees' lead to 5-1. Aroldis Chapman came in for the ninth inning, setting the side down to secure a 5-1 victory for the Yankees.

With this win, the Yankees keep their playoff hopes alive and advance to the ALCS. Gerrit Cole will face Tyler Glasnow in Friday night's winner take all game at 7:11 p.m.
