Albuquerque youth achieves USATF All-American recognition - for the second consecutive time.
yo there! Check out the ripper performance by Albuquerque's very own Gianni Chavez at the USA Track & Field National Youth Outdoor Championship! He bagged his second USATF All American award by placing 5th in the 8-Under boys 800-meter run, smashing a new personal best of 2:53.55.
The top-8 finishers in each event are awarded USATF All American honors, and lucky dlaik Gianni also bagged a spot after his fantastic run. On Thursday, he also participated in the 400-meter and managed to place a respectable 12th with a time of 1:23.85.
Looking ahead, Gianni's got his eyes set on the 1500, where he's seeded third. let's see how he fares in the upcoming event!
Last weekend, Gianni had a stellar outing at the New Mexico USATF Association Championship meet, winning both the 800 and 1500 events. He finished the 800 in 2:58.33 and clocked a time of 6:06.11 in the 1500.
This isn't the first time Gianni has bagged a USATF All American award. Last year, he clinched the honor at the National Youth Outdoor meet too, where he smashed the 800.
It's not just Gianni who's making waves; his older bro, Benito, also participated in this year's national meet. He placed 15th in the 11-12 boys long jump and 21st in both the 100 and 200.

Gianni Chavez might consider trying out sports like football or tennis, given his impressive athletic achievements. In the next USATF event, spectators can expect to see him competing in the 1500, but perhaps a friendly match of tennis could also showcase his competitive spirit.
