Album Sales Chart 2025: Top 10 Best-Selling Records Globally

In the music industry, 2025 has been a year of impressive sales, with several artists achieving significant milestones. However, none have come close to the phenomenal success of Taylor Swift's "1989 (Taylor's Version)".

This re-recording of Swift's 2014 album has broken numerous records, selling over 1.6 million equivalent album units in its first week. This figure is the largest album sales week of Swift's career and the 2020s decade. The album surpassed the original 1989's first-week sales by 400,000 units, setting a new benchmark.

The album also had the highest single-day streams in 2023 on Spotify and achieved the highest first-week vinyl sales of the 21st century in the US. With such impressive numbers, it's no surprise that "1989 (Taylor's Version)" is predicted to be the top-selling album worldwide in 2025.

Other albums have also made a mark this year. SZA's "SOS (Deluxe)" has sold 964,000 units in the United States through streaming services, while Sabrina Carpenter's "Short N' Sweet" has ranked fifth with 695,000 units. Bad Bunny's "Debí Tirar Más Fotos" has sold 1.05 million units in the United States, and Tate McRae's "So Close to What" has made it to the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

In terms of chart dominance, Morgan Wallen's "I'm the Problem" is the best-selling album in the U.S. with 2.562 million equivalent album units. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and held the spot for nine weeks. Playboi Carti's "Music" secured a position at the top of the Billboard 200 chart for three consecutive weeks.

The Weeknd's "Hurry Up Tomorrow" is another standout album, being the best-selling album of the year 2025 worldwide. It had the highest streaming week of 2025 and has sold 850,000 copies in the United States as of March 2025.

Kendrick Lamar's "GNX" and Tate McRae's "So Close to What" are also among the top 10 highest selling albums in the world in 2025.

In the UK, Sabrina Carpenter's "Short N' Sweet" has led sales with 196,000 chart units by April 2025.

While these albums have made a strong impact, Taylor Swift's "1989 (Taylor's Version)" continues to lead the pack by a significant margin. The album's success is a testament to Swift's enduring popularity and the power of re-recordings in the music industry.

Taylor Swift's "1989 (Taylor's Version)" dominates the music industry's entertainment forms in 2025, with its impressive sales numbers making it the top-selling album worldwide. Forms of entertainment, such as SZA's "SOS (Deluxe)" and Sabrina Carpenter's "Short N' Sweet," have also garnered notable success through streaming services and chart rankings.
