Halsey's 'The Great Predator' Shines Despite Industry Pressure

In a career marked by unparalleled success, Halsey's latest album, 'The Great Predator', has made a significant impact. Released last October, the album peaked at Number 19 in the UK albums chart and an impressive Number Two in the US Billboard 200.

The record's debut was equally impressive, selling 100,000 copies in its first week. However, the commercial success didn't meet the expectations of Halsey's record label, Capitol Records, leading to a refusal to produce a new album.

Despite the setback, 'The Great Predator' tour has been the highest-selling tour of Halsey's career, a testament to the album's resonance with fans. The album has also been compared to Halsey's 2020 third record, 'Manic', and received a five-star review from NME, being named one of their best albums of 2024.

The album, an experimental concept album about how Halsey almost died, has been well-received critically. It features the punk-rock-inspired single 'Safeword' and a powerful collaboration with Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee, 'Hand That Feeds'.

As Halsey's debut studio album 'Badlands' celebrates its 10th anniversary, the artist has announced a 'Back To Badlands' 2025-2026 world tour of the UK, Europe, North America, and Australia. To commemorate the anniversary, Halsey also released 'Badlands (Decade Edition Anthology)', a collection of orchestral, demo, and stripped versions of several songs.

Halsey has been open about feeling compared to numbers and other artists that she doesn't consider lateral to her. The artist insists that she is doing "pretty damn good" with some "strong numbers" under her belt, despite not reaching the commercial success of her previous albums. Halsey states that selling 100,000 copies in the first week is seen as a failure in the context of her previous success, but would be considered a success for most artists.

Looking back, Halsey recalled her and Ariana Grande previously "fighting for Number One on the Billboard chart". Despite the industry pressures, Halsey continues to push boundaries and deliver music that resonates with her fans.
