A series of persistent headaches, followed by a loss of consciousness, led to the shocking discovery of a brain hemorrhage and stroke in Hollywood legend Jamie Foxx (57). Urgent surgery was necessary to save his life. At an event presenting the two-part documentary, "Number One on the Call Sheet", co-produced by Foxx, he discusses a weird chat he had before his medical drama during the filming of his current Netflix series, "Back in Action".

"Crazier still, I was chatting with the peeps handling my business, and they introduced the idea of going through some paperwork, just in case something bad happened," Foxx reminisces in an interview with "People". Curious, he queried: "What's the plan if I kick it?" Shortly afterwards, the fateful event transpired.

An Unforeseen, Anti-climactic End

The Academy Award winner also shared that the experience was far from how he had always envisioned his demise. He drew parallels to a dramatic shootout scene from an old action-crime movie, "Colors". "I thought I'd go out in a blaze like Rocket (Don Cheadle) in a shopping mall standoff, not croak asking for some aspirin," Foxx remarks.

"When I crossed paths with the Big Guy, he said: 'Dude, I'm giving you another shot - whatcha gonna do with it?'," Foxx recounts. "I said: 'Ain't no joke, I'm gonna crack 'em up and throw everything I got at it.' To prove his point, Foxx channeled his experiences into a stand-up comedy special called "What Had Happened Was...", which premiered on Netflix in December 2024.

A Daughter's Diligent Care

At the film premiere, Foxx confided in "Us Weekly" that his family, especially his daughter Corinne Marie Foxx, have stepped up to take care of him. He adds: "Kudos to my gal Corinne, who protected me from prying eyes." The documentary, "Number One on the Call Sheet", premieres on Apple TV+ on March 28.
