Relentless buzzer disrupts slumber: Early-morning wake-up call from the alarm clock. - Alarm clock sounds off early hour.

It's all work and no play for Borussia Dortmund's sporting director in sunny Florida. Away from the beaches of Fort Lauderdale and the vibrant city of Miami, Kehl has been busy shaping the squad for the upcoming season during the Club World Cup. "I haven't even stepped foot on the sand here once," Kehl admitted in the training quarters of the Dortmund team at Inter Miami.

Early mornings and towering stacks of work have been the daily routine for Kehl, who's been up and about since the crack of dawn. "My alarm clock gives me quite the jolt every morning. I try to keep a bit of European time in my system, but there's always a list of tasks waiting," he said.

The high-profile acquisition of Jobe Bellingham, who joined the club from AFC Sunderland for 30 million euros last week, is just the beginning for Dortmund. But securing more big-name players depends on departures or a successful run in the USA. "We're eagerly awaiting some departures and a strong performance here to make more significant acquisitions," Kehl revealed.

The Club World Cup's minimum target for Dortmund is reaching the round of 16, which could fetch millions in prize money for each advancing round. In the best-case scenario, young English winger Jamie Gittens, whose potential departure has been intensely discussed, would be an excellent self-promoter in the US. "Jamie will be crucial for us during the tournament," Kehl stated.

Apart from Gittens, Dortmund is also hoping to offload players like Salih Özcan, Youssoufa Moukoko, and Sébastien Haller who aren't part of the Club World Cup squad. "Naturally, there are several discussions brewing in our locker room," Kehl admitted.

Dortmund aims to bring in a backup defender and a forward to complement top scorer Serhou Guirassy. "We've got a few open slots, so we'll see what happens in the coming days," Kehl hinted cryptically.

Insights:

  • Currently, Jobe Bellingham's transfer status remains unclear, with no explicit information available.
  • There is a lack of recent or upcoming transfer news concerning Jamie Gittens at Borussia Dortmund.
  • No direct transfer or departure updates are available for Salih Özcan, Youssoufa Moukoko, or Sébastien Haller.
  • Dortmund has confirmed several returning players from loans and some players leaving on permanent or loan deals, but these moves are unrelated to the five players mentioned.

The Commission, perhaps mindful of the potential risks for workers in sports like football, has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens. With Jobe Bellingham's arrival at Borussia Dortmund from AFC Sunderland and the potential departure of Jamie Gittens, European-leagues are closely watching the dynamics within the club.
