Alabama's Electric Cooperatives Back Chris Beeker for Alabama Public Service Commission Role
In a significant development for the Alabama Public Service Commission (PSC) race, Chris Beeker, a native of rural Alabama and current resident of Tuscaloosa, has received the endorsement of the Electric Cooperatives of Alabama Political Action Committee (ECA PAC).
Governor Kay Ivey appointed Beeker to the PSC in 2024, positioning him for a full term on the commission. This endorsement underscores the ECA PAC's commitment to strengthening rural communities and advancing progress.
Beeker, who previously served as USDA Rural Development director for Alabama under President Donald Trump, has more than a decade of experience in banking, finance, and business. In his role as USDA Rural Development director, he helped secure funding for water systems, broadband, housing, and infrastructure in rural communities.
Sean Strickler, VP of External Affairs at AREA, stated that sound energy policy is essential to Alabama's future and that Chris Beeker understands both the policy and the people it impacts. Beeker emphasizes the importance of ensuring rural communities continue to thrive.
The endorsement from the ECA PAC is appreciated by Beeker, reflecting the collective support of Alabama's electric cooperatives. The ECA PAC is the political arm of the Alabama Rural Electric Association of Cooperatives, known as AREA.
The endorsement by the ECA PAC comes at a crucial time as Beeker runs for a full term on the PSC. Beeker grew up in Greene County and witnessed the support electric cooperatives provide to rural families, farms, and small businesses in Alabama.
This endorsement underscores Beeker's dedication to serving the rural community of Alabama and his understanding of the unique challenges they face. Beeker welcomed the endorsement, expressing his gratitude for the support and his commitment to working together to ensure the continued success of rural Alabama.
